Rhinoplasty is a surgery that corrects, models and defines the ideal shape of the nose.

The nose surgery is not only for aesthetic purposes but to improve the respiratory function in cases of deviations of the nasal septum.

Rhinoplasty is surgery that modifies the shape, both the length, height and width and other aesthetic and functional details of the nose, either due to aesthetic reasons as to correct deformities or malformations that make breathing difficult or the normal functioning of the respiratory system during Sleep or wakefulness.

Although rhinoplasty as a cosmetic surgery is well known because many people decide to do it to change the aesthetic shape of the nose, it is also frequent to practice a corrective rhinoplasty to reconstruct the bony, cartilaginous or fleshy structure of the nose, both in case of accidents Or to correct birth defects.

A rhinoplasty operation takes about 2 hours, although in some cases with more complication the operation can last longer. The post operative can be carried out at home.

Preoperative:

For a nose surgery operation, the two most commonly used types of anesthesia are:

  1. Local anesthesia with deep intravenous sedation.
  2. General anesthesia, the latter being the most commonly used.

Once the surgery is performed, nasal plugs are removed after a few days and a nasal splint is removed after about 8 days.

A day of hospitalization is required after the operation.

Post Operative Care:

Within the first 24 hours the patient may experience mild swelling of the face, nasal obstruction and headache.

  1. A semisentered position should be maintained for a week, even to sleep the patient should do so in this position, face up.
  2. Avoid sudden movements and do not perform activities that require physical effort.
  3. You should therefore avoid playing sports until after about 3 weeks.
  4. The first few days should avoid eating foods that require much or strong chewing.
  5. Avoid smoking during the first few months, as doing so hinders the process of proper healing.
  6. You should not sunbathe in the first few months.
